What Makes a Crab a Crab?


While many different animals are consitered crabs, you may not know what makes something qualifyed to be one.

These are some of the defining characteristics of a crab:

1) A hard exoskeleton
2) Cold Blooded
3) Compound Eyes on Eyestocks
4) 1 Set of Claws
5) 4 Sets of Legs

While not all crabs have all of these exact characteristics, generally most crabs follow those guidelines.



Crabs VS. Lobsters

Crabs and lobsters are very different creatures, but you may not know the exact differences

Here are the main ones:

1) Lobsters have a longer and less circular body than crabs
2) Crabs normally walk sideways, but lobsters walk forwards
3) Lobsters generally have larger claws compared to their body size
